Phiona and her family struggles to make endsmeet, and yet she does something that is not conventionallyeconomically active. I notice how they depict Phiona underpressure during a chess game, and the opponents looking confident bystaring fiercely into Phiona. This adds dimension to the story. Slum life is well depicted but sanitised-this is a Disney film but there is no dramatic tension, and no humourto leaven the mix. We know what is going to happen to Phiona Disneyfilm again and it duly does. If the film had been aboutRobert Katende -a real life star- not Phiona, it would have had a lotmore potential. Best bit is the rapping at the end, and the very moving credits, whichshow the real story to be inspiring in a way this film is not. For the record I thought The Jungle Book was pretty poor too.
